Our popular study support classes rely on our amazing volunteers who work with the children to build their confidence and skills. We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help to recruit, train and support these essential volunteers at CLASSS.
CLASSS is a registered charity that has been offering extra study support for children in local communities since 2008. We are a vibrant organisation, committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can build confidence through high quality Maths and English tutoring. Our weekly sessions are held on Thursdays at the Technorth Centre in Chapel Allerton.

Role Title: Volunteer Coordinator
Supported by: Managing Coordinator
Main purposes of role :
Recruit and directly support all volunteers within CLASSS
Ensure opportunities for volunteer development
Key tasks :
Recruiting and inducting new volunteers, working with the Managing Coordinator to ensure DBS and safeguarding requirements are met
Supporting the training of volunteers, working with the Managing Coordinator to organise training sessions and signpost online training opportunities
Provide a welcoming environment for volunteers and work to ensure all feel part of the team at CLASSS
Support volunteer engagement, for example by sending update emails, dealing with any issues that arise, coordinating celebrations, thank you cards etc as required

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and the Volunteer Coordinator role is vital in recruiting and supporting volunteers to create a strong team
The Volunteer Coordinator role is a direct support for the Managing Coordinator in day to day running of the charity
Skills we’re looking for :
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to engage confidently with new people
Organisational skills - able to coordinate and prioritise tasks and keep records
Leadership skills - able to engage volunteers, providing a first point of contact when volunteers need support and providing development opportunities for volunteers.
Time commitment :
To fulfil the role you would need to be able to attend Thursday evening CLASSS sessions most weeks during term time.
This role is best completed with a ‘little and often’ approach (answering emails and completing small tasks regularly to keep on top of things), usually totally around 1 hour a week outside of Thursday CLASSS hours.
