Key Information

Location

Our classes are held at Technorth, Harrogate Road, Leeds, LS7 3NB, every Thursday evening during term time at 5.45 - 7.30. Technorth is easily accessible by a number of local bus services: 2, 3, 3A, or Find us on Google Maps.

Tutors

All our tutors, organisers and trustees are volunteers, apart from two paid qualified teachers who teach English, Maths and Science to the eldest pupils. All volunteers go through a thorough application process, provide references which are followed up, and have Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.

Eligibility & Entry Tests

We provide classes for any child at any school in Leeds between the school years of 2 and 11. The children are tested when they join CLASSS to provide tutors with an understanding of the particular educational needs of each student. Tests are repeated annually to monitor the progress of each student. In addition to this, parents must provide their child's/children's most recent school report as evidence of their current attainment levels, so an appropriate plan of work can be constructed for each student.

Our Credentials

Tutors work one-on-one with students where possible, or with pairs or small groups of students. We use text books which follow the National Curriculum and a range of other teaching materials. We are registered with the Charity Commission and Children’s Services Leeds as a Supplementary School and also with the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education with which we have attained their bronze award.

Meetings

Parents/carers meetings are held each term with an Annual General Meeting held in June. The board of trustees meet on a termly basis but also have extraordinary meetings when there is an item which needs attention. Volunteer meetings are held monthly and they receive regular one-on-one supervision with the Volunteer Coordinator.
